How do I map a network drive?

Mapping a network drive is necessary when performing a networked install of Appraise-It, adding a new client to your existing network, or replacing your existing server.

****NOTE:  SFREP Support cannot assist in networking.  If the steps below fail, you will have to contact Windows or a Local Technician to assist in setting up your network.  ****

Windows XP
a. Go to My Computer.
b. Go to Tools ⇨ Map Network Drive...
c. Select an unused drive letter from the Drive drop-down.
d. In the Folder text field, type "\\SERVERNAME\C" without the quotes, substituting your server's name for SERVERNAME.
e. Ensure the Reconnect at logon option is checked, then click Finish.
f. A new drive should appear in My Computer, and when you open it, you should see the contents of your server's C: drive.

Windows Vista and Windows 7
a. Go to Computer.
b. Click the Map Network Drive button on the upper toolbar, below the address bar and navigation buttons.
c. Select an unused drive letter from the Drive drop-down.
d. In the Folder text field, type "\\SERVERNAME\C" without the quotes, substituting your server's name for SERVERNAME.
e. Ensure the Reconnect at logon option is checked, then click Finish.
f. A new drive should appear in Computer, and when you open it, you should see the contents of your server's C: drive.

Windows 8
a. Go to Computer. (From the Start screen, simply type "computer" then hit "Enter". From the desktop, open the File Explorer and select Computer in the menu on the left.)
b. Go to Computer ⇨ Map Network Drive on the upper menubar.
c. Select an unused drive letter from the Drive drop-down.
d. In the Folder text field, type "\\SERVERNAME\C" without the quotes, substituting your server's name for SERVERNAME.
e. Ensure the Reconnect at logon option is checked, then click Finish.
f. A new drive should appear in Computer, and when you open it, you should see the contents of your server's C: drive.

Windows 10

a. Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start  menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.
b. Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive. 
c. In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do)
d. In the Folder box, type the path of the folder or computer, or select Browse to find the folder or computer. To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the Reconnect at sign-in check box.
e. Select Finish.

Note: If you can't connect to a network drive or folder, the computer you're trying to connect to might be turned off, or you might not have the correct permissions. Try contacting your network administrator.
